As jewellers who retail, design, manufacture, repair, recycle and generally just love all things sparkly, we want to encourage and assist new jewellery makers, so we have devised an annual competition to do just these things.
The Canary Blue New Jeweller Competition is open to non-professional jewellers only.
Entrants are required to design a suite of jewellery (three items from a choice of six) using only precious metals and gemstones to this year's theme “Truro Cathedral” and then make one sample piece from the suite.
The judging criteria of the competition include the co-ordination and complementary styling of the suite, visual appeal of the individual pieces, innovation, aesthetic qualities and perhaps most importantly from Canary Blue's perspective, commerciality.
The competition is in two stages:
Stage One: Design
Stage Two: Manufacture
Every entrant will complete both stages - see the associated pages for more details - and all pieces entered will be displayed in our shop in Cathedral Lane throughout December 2016.
All Registered Entrants are issue with an identifying code to ensure anonimity of each designer until designs are chosen for manufacture.
