Entrants are required to submit their design sketches/drawings to Canary Blue Truro by no later than 5pm Monday 10 October 2016. No electronic entries. No late entries.
Judging of the designs will take place at Canary Blue by a panel of Judges comprising industry professionals. The Judges will choose one piece from each suite for the designer to make as a sample piece in silver/CZ.
These pieces will be judged and winning entrants chosen.
The overall winner will be chosen from the Commended entrants.
The decision of the Judges’ Panel will be final and no discussions and or will be entered into.
WHO MAY ENTER
This competition is open to non-professional jewellers only – that is any person not gainfully employed or self employed as a silversmith, goldsmith, stone setter, jewellery designer or maker
All entrants should register to receive an Entry Form for the competition. Registration generates a unique entrant number to enable anonymity. The names of all entrants will be kept in strictest confidence and unknown to the Judges.
STAGE ONE: DESIGN
Anyone submitting a design for the competition must complete the Entry Form in full and submit with it the illustrations and manufacturing details requested.
If the illustrations are larger or smaller than the piece they represent, the scale must be given as part of the description. The scale should be no larger than necessary to show design details.
Judging of Stage One: Design takes place 11-13 October 2016.
STAGE TWO: MAKING
Entrants should make the piece selected by the Judges as a sample, in silver using CZ or semi-precious stones only. This should be made as per the design details submitted. No change can be made to the design selected by the Judges
Judging of Stage Two: Making takes place 21-24 November 2016
JUDGING OF DESIGNS & PIECES
The decision of the Board of Judges panel for the main competition will be final and no discussions can and will be entered into.
NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS
The results of the Board of Judges decisions will be announced at the Presentation Event at Truro College on 28 November 2016
Votes cast for designs and sample pieces displayed at Canary Blue’s Truro shop, on the website and on facebook during December 2016 will be collated and the Customers’ Favourite design will be announced at Canary Blue on Christmas Eve. Voting results will be announced in full.
Commended jewellers will be supplied with silver and cz to create samples of all designs in their suite of jewellery and these will be displayed at Canary Blue from January – December 2017 allowing customers to order in any metal with any stone.
The Judges’ winner will also be awarded the opportunity to choose materials/equipment to the value of £250.
The Customers’ Choice winner will be able to choose materials/equipment to the value of £100.
SUBMISSION OF DESIGNS
Designs submitted must be a suites of jewellery
All pieces must be part of the same theme
Designs must be original and not previously been entered into any other competition, offered for sale or publicly displayed
Designs MAY NOT include imitation, synthetic or man-made gems; semi-precious stones; pearls; or pieces of ivory, tortoiseshell or any materials from endangered species
Metal used should be Gold (any carat/colour), platinum or palladium.
Designs that do not conform to these rule will not be accepted
RETURN OF DESIGNS
Design sketches, colour photographs and models not selected by the Board of Judges will be returned to the entrant.
CARE OF DESIGNS
While every effort is made to keep designs in good condition, Canary Blue cannot accept responsibility for damage caused by the postal systems.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND PUBLICITY
Canary Blue will arrange official photography of the winning pieces in a style and manner to be determined at their sole discretion. Winning designers will be given the rights to use these images if required. But all intellectual property rights remain with Canary Blue
Canary Blue will use reasonable endeavours to promote appropriate coverage of the winning pieces in the consumer and trade press and by entering the competition you agree to this. However, we cannot make promises as the extent of the coverage remains under the editorial control of the local media.
CANCELLATION OF THE COMPETITION
Canary Blue reserves the right to cancel the competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
ACCEPTANCE OF RULES
Entrants must comply with all the above mentioned rules, and are deemed to have accepted and agreed to them when entering into the competition.
