Our respected judges come from a variety of backgrounds representing the commercial, design and restoration aspects of precious metal and gemstone jewellery -
Richard Baker-Stevens has been involved in the jewellery industry since he was 18 working as a jobbing jeweller and goldsmith, retailing high end Swiss watches and investigating fraudulent jewellery insurance claims. He opened Canary Blue in April 2013 as a completely new style of jewellery retailer - one where the customer buys what they want not what he happens to stock - and is now established as one of Cornwall's leading jewellers.
Victoria Walker gained her BA(Hons) Degree in Jewellery & Silversmithing at Truro College in 2009. During the course, she won the Goldsmiths Company Precious Metal Bursary award for her designs.
She specialises in kinetic fine jewellery inspired by the beauty of natural forms. Her signature botanical lockets feature miniature articulated flowers that gently emergy and unfold from within.
Victoria works full time as a jewellery-designer from her workshop in Princes House, Truro and exhibits at various shows and exhibitions around the UK.
Mirri achieved a Degree in Sculpture from Chelsea College of Art and her work was selected for the New Contemporaries Award; she has also been exhibited at ICA London, Cornerhouse Manchester and other various galleries.
After a change in direction and scale, Mirri took an extended studies course at Sir John Cass, London, and she began working for an internationally renowned jeweller, initially making and then designing. Six years later she returned to Cornwall and started her own business.
Mirri’s award winning work can be seen in shops and galleries nationally and internationally.
